Anna Moochoon, Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor

Anna Moochoon, LCPC

I am a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor in Maryland and the owner of a private practice based in Rockville. I hold degrees in Clinical Mental Health Counseling and Cognitive Psychology, and I currently pursue a PhD in Counseling Psychology. I listen closely, speak honestly, and address what matters directly. I bring warmth, competence, integrity, and thoughtful care to the work while encouraging genuine reflection, personal responsibility, and purposeful action.

Therapy here is active.

There is room to talk, feel, and be understood, but our work does not end there. I ask thoughtful questions, offer perspective, and challenge familiar patterns directly. I welcome honest feedback and use it to keep our work responsive, collaborative, and aligned with each client’s needs. Together, we examine recurring patterns, develop a deeper understanding of them, and translate that understanding into clearer choices, deliberate action, and new ways of responding.

Theoretical Approach

My approach is integrative, drawing from psychodynamic and attachment theory, existential and phenomenological perspectives, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, cognitive and behavioral science, neuroscience, and contemporary understandings of emotion and autonomic regulation.

I consider how early relationships, unconscious patterns, thoughts, emotions, bodily responses, and the nervous system interact to shape present experience, behavior, and relationships. Existential and phenomenological perspectives deepen this work through attention to lived experience and questions of meaning, choice, responsibility, authenticity, uncertainty, and what it means to live well.

Acceptance and Commitment Therapy complements this foundation by supporting psychological flexibility. It helps clients relate differently to difficult thoughts and emotions while moving toward what genuinely matters.

Rather than understanding difficulties through a single lens, I bring these perspectives together to explore both the origins of persistent patterns and the processes through which change becomes possible.

Sex Therapy

My approach to sex therapy is integrative, relational, and nervous system informed.

Sexual response is not simply something we can command. Desire, arousal, pleasure, and intimacy emerge through a complex interaction between the body, mind, relationships, and personal history.

Rather than treating sexual difficulties primarily as problems of performance, I help individuals and couples understand the psychological, relational, and physiological processes that may be interfering with sexual response. Together, we work to reduce pressure and self monitoring, deepen connection, and create more room for curiosity, pleasure, and intimacy.

Coaching

My coaching approach is active, practical, and focused on purposeful growth. We identify what matters, recognize what may be getting in the way, and turn ideas into intentional action.

I encourage curiosity, experimentation, and a willingness to move forward without waiting for certainty or perfect conditions. Our work may involve challenging familiar patterns, strengthening communication, developing practical strategies, and taking thoughtful risks.

The goal is not simply greater self understanding, but using that understanding with clarity and courage to shape meaningful choices. Coaching is not psychotherapy and does not involve the diagnosis or treatment of mental health conditions.
